Making Your Menu

A good thing to do to help organise yourself (this is so funny because I am NOT an organised person) so that you keep on track is to compile a menu for the week. This was a tip given to me by a vegan friend and I'm finding it to be a big help.

  • Compile the recipes that you want to make or try for that week.
  • Familiarise yourself with the recipes and the necessary ingredients.
  • Check your refrigerator and pantry to rule out what you have from what you don't.
  • Make a shopping list of the things you need.
Doing this has helped me in many ways. When I get home from a long day at work I don't have to try to figure out what I'm going to cook and I may or may not have all the necessary ingredients to make dinner. Also if I know exactly what I'm going to make and have a list of the things I need, I am less likely to pick up things I may not use therefore saving myself some money.

  1. isnt it incredible how taking 20-30mins to plan a weeks menu can take a bunch of stress out of your life? it is also a good idea to write it in a small notebook, and when you have those moments of "what do i cook? i dont know what to cook..." you can look back thru it and get ideas!

    1. I had already implemented the notebook idea from awhile ago, even before i started to make up my weekly menu. i can never remember what i cook , how it came out, what changes i made etc. and i print so many recipes from the internet/blogs instead of handwriting them. So i got a binder and some of those clear plastic sleeves and just pop the print outs (with my scribbled notes) in there. It's a home made recipe book with pictures :) AND when i want to make a recipe again i just pull out one page and the recipe is protected from spills and stains.
